rework the dual convolution paradigm which is used to prevent excessively large kernels: replace penalties with an explicit coupled minimization of the second moment of the square of the output psf; the derivatives of this term in the minimization have the form of second moments of the various kernel and image combinations; to ensure the relative scaling is invarient between different flux normalizations and to ensure the second moments are not a function of the source fluxes, it is necessary to change where the normalization is applied
