Back earlier in the spring of 2008 I configured IPP 2.3 for a very simple one-chip, one-amp setup to reduced pre-processed images from the PAIRITEL NIR telescope on Mt. Hopkins (the old 2MASS North telescope refurbished by Josh Blooom). I found it was relatively straightforward to set up once I understood the configuration files (and much less confusing then trying to set up the CTIO MOSAICII camera). It would do photometry of point sources fine, but failed dramatically in identifying the underlying large galaxies (a known limitation of psphot). These were images of nearby supernovae and the galaxies range in size from 30 arcseconds to 6 arcminutes.

Since this was with IPP 2.3 it may be worth revisiting this with some more sophisticated flags/configuration options to psphot. My long term ideal goal is to get psphot to work on a time-series cube of images to do psf photometry of variable sources using all of the images of a field and a good PSF model.
